BCA Presence in Australia and New Zealand

Boeing 787 DreamlinerTaking immense pride in its total focus on airline and lessor customers, passengers and the environment, Boeing Commercial Airplanes is the world’s premier commercial jetliner manufacturer.

In Australia, BCA is represented by BCA Sales, which provides sales and marketing support of BCA products, customer engineering and quality control/procurement functions. Some of these functions are undertaken in Qantas facilities in Sydney and Melbourne, and in Virgin Blue facilities in Brisbane.

Boeing opened its first Australian office in Sydney in 1959 when Qantas became the first international customer for Boeing’s first passenger jet, the 707, and revolutionised air travel for Australians by halving flight times to the rest of the world. Fifty years later, Qantas is one of the largest global operators of the 747, with a current fleet of 30. Qantas also has 50 orders for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, with contractual rights to purchase an additional 50 aircraft. The Boeing 737 played a central role in the growth of aviation in Australia, and the later model Next-Generation 737 remains extremely popular with Virgin Blue and Qantas.

Boeing aircraft are the number one choice for most commercial airlines flying South Pacific routes.

BCA is also supported in Australia by Boeing Aerostructures Australia, a world-class manufacturer of aircraft components highly regarded for its work in the area of advanced composite carbon fibre technology. This high-tech specialisation has led to work as the sole source of the wholly-composite rudder for the Boeing 777 and designing and building the moveable trailing edges on the world’s most advanced new aircraft, the super-efficient Boeing 787.

The team at Boeing Aerostructures Australia provides customers with a complete solution to aircraft component manufacture - from developing the most aerodynamic and efficient design, to rigorous testing processes. Boeing Aerostructures Australia also works with a large number of smaller Australian companies putting millions of dollars into the Australian economy and enabling development of new skills across the workforce.

Another integral component of BCA is Commercial Aviation Services (CAS), which provides lifecycle solutions, materials and engineering services, and 24x7 global customer support. In Australia, CAS’ family of companies are Alteon Training Australia, Aviall Australia, Jeppesen Australia and Jeppesen Marine.

Jeppesen Australia provides today’s most advanced flight information solutions and computerised flight planning software, as well as high-end scheduling for air and rail customers. Jeppesen Marine supplies maritime navigational data and operational information with its highly acclaimed digital cartography and software.

Alteon is the first truly commercial aviation training operation in the South Pacific, offering flight and technical training to airlines from across the region and occasionally across the globe. In Brisbane, Alteon operates six flight simulators in a $45 million training centre, which operates in partnership with Virgin Blue, and provides training for Boeing 717, Boeing 737 Next Generation and Airbus A320 aircraft. The Sydney training centre is a partnership with V Australia and supports Boeing 777 training, while Alteon’s Melbourne centre partners with Ansett Aviation Training on Boeing 737 Classic, 737 Next-Generation and Airbus A320.

Aviall is a leading solutions provider of aftermarket supply-chain management services for the aerospace, defence and marine industries and serves more than 500 customers in Australia, including Qantas and the RAAF. The company is part of Boeing’s worldwide service infrastructure to deliver vital spares, products and services when and where they’re needed, and has access to one million catalogue items from its customer service centres in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Boeing Field Service is also part of CAS. Field Service provides Boeing customers with timely, on-site technical advice and can call upon any BCA technical resource to resolve operator problems. Dedicated Field Service representatives are located in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
