Boeing Military Aircraft supplies tactical aircraft, airlift and tankers, rotorcraft and weapons activities, and maritime and airborne surveillance programs to customers worldwide.
Many of these products play a key role within Australian defence forces. The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has received the first five of 24 new F/A-18F Super Hornets, the world's most advanced combat-proven multi-role strike fighter. These aircraft enter service from the end of 2010 and accompany the existing fleet of 71 F/A-18 A/B Hornets. The RAAF is also flying four Boeing C-17 Globemaster III military transports and the first three of six Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) aircraft. Four of these six Wedgetail aircraft have been modified in Australia from green 737s to the AEW&C platform - making it the most complex commercial-to-military aircraft modification in the country's history. The Australian Army is operating four CH-47D Chinook helicopters, which will be accompanied by seven CH-47F Chinooks. The first two CH-47Fs are planned to enter service from 2014, with all seven in servce by 2017.
