Systems Analysis Laboratory

Systems Analysis LaboratoryBoeing Defence Australia’s Systems Analysis Laboratory (SAL) is the region’s most sophisticated capability for analysis and experimentation of advanced concepts and military operations.

The Systems Analysis Laboratory (SAL) is run by a team of highly skilled software engineers and military operations analysts to provide decision support services to defence projects.

Enabling better decisions

The SAL supports robust analysis and collaborative experimentation to assist in making informed and objective decisions. Boeing uses experimentation, built on a strong foundation of analysis, to work iteratively toward the right solutions for the customer.

Boeing can help:

Military domain expertise

The SAL team has been providing classified and unclassified decision support services to the Australian Defence Force and the Asia Pacific region’s defence forces for more than a decade. The experience and in-depth customer understanding provided by this tri-service ex-military operations analysts coupled with the expertise of hardware and software engineers allows the group to provide tailored analysis activities that best meet customer needs.

Global reach

While an established in-country experimentation capability helps the team best understand the needs of Australian customer’s, the SAL personnel also has the ability to bring the best of Boeing internationally. Through the company wide laboratory network (LabNet), the local team has the ability to reach out and draw on the expertise resident in the United States, United Kingdom and other Boeing facilities throughout the world.

Fit for Purpose Analysis Approach

Boeing’s customers face complex problems and as a company Boeing recognises that providing answers to those problems, rapidly, and at the required level of fidelity, requires a multi-faceted approach. Through the use of the most appropriate analytic techniques and simulation tools available, the SAL team provide customers with the understanding they need to make the best decision to meet their emerging requirements. This could range from a facilitated workshop using discrete event cost and capability tools though to a large virtual warfighting experiment examining future capabilities and concepts of operations.
