Boeing Defence Australia’s Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS) is a world-leading program preparing the next generation of Australian Defence Force (ADF) helicopter aircrew for future combat and humanitarian missions.
Amongst the most sophisticated military helicopter training systems in the world, HATS has the ability to graduate up to 144 pilots, aviation warfare officers, remote pilot warfare officers, aircrew, sensor operators and qualified aircrew returning for instructor training each year for the Royal Australian Navy and Australian Army.
Our expert team of qualified instructors utilise the program’s suite of sophisticated training aids to provide trainee aircrew with realistic scenarios that prepare them for the most demanding and complex frontline missions.
The program delivers systems design, courseware development and flight training through an integrated suite of facilities and devices including:
· 15 Airbus EC135-T2+ aircraft
· Full flight simulators
· Tactical part task trainers and desk top trainers
· Virtual Reality Trainers (VRT) and Marshalling VRT
· Aircraft Replica Trainer.
At the completion of their HATS training, students are qualified to commence their frontline combat helicopter training on aircraft including the Navy’s MH-60R Seahawk and the Army’s CH-47F Chinook and Tiger armed reconnaissance helicopter. HATS will also provide ab initio training for aircrew on Australia’s future AH-64E Apache attack helicopters and Sikorsky UH60M Blackhawk.
In addition to aircrew training courses, HATS also delivers supply chain, operations and program support services, along with engineering and maintenance of the ADF’s 15 EC135 helicopters.
